About the LVR Youth Soccer Club
Laurelhurst - View Ridge - Ravenna (LVR) Soccer Club

LVR is a youth soccer club with a program open to all children, ages 6 to 18 years, who register and play with us. Last season we served about 2000 children, making it the one of the largest youth soccer clubs in the state of Washington.

LVR is a non-profit organization and is administered by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. Teams are typically coached and managed by volunteers, generally parents of players on the team. In some circumstances, individual teams have elected to hire trainers and/or pay their coaches.

We are a part of the Seattle Youth Soccer Association (SYSA), which is made up of twelve neighborhood soccer clubs and Seattle United. Seattle United is the player development club for SYSA and has no geographical area within the association. SYSA is part of the larger Washington Youth Soccer (WYS). In turn, WYS is affiliated with United States Youth Soccer and United States Soccer Federation and ultimately with FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association).

Here is an illustration of the different organizations:

LVR has two age-based programs.

  • House League. The House League, also called Mod Soccer, is a program for the beginning soccer players aged 6 to 8.

  • City League. The City League is primarily a recreational soccer program for players aged 9 to 18. Players are placed together on teams without regard to ability (i.e., there is no selection process) and compete against similar teams from the other clubs in SYSA. At age 10 and older, players and teams can elect to play Select Soccer, where the team typically has tryouts in the Spring to determine which players are on the team's roster.
