Youth Rec Soccer for Northeast Seattle

Coach Training & Certification

For your safety and the safety of our players, US Soccer requires volunteers to obtain a SafeSport certification, take an Introduction To Safe And Healthy Playing Environments course through US Soccer,  complete a background check with Washington Youth Soccer, and register with your local soccer club, which is LVR  Soccer.

Before you begin, note your first name, last name, date of birth, and email address as listed in your member account in Affinity that you have used to submit your background check in years’ past. These four fields must match exactly in both Affinity and profile you create in the Learning Center, or your course completion status will not be able to ‘sync’.

Step 1: Create an Account with US Soccer Learning Center (if you have not done so already)

  1. Go to the Learning Center: U.S. Soccer Learning Center

  2. Create a Learning Center profile, check the terms of service boxes and submit (all volunteers should be a ‘coach’)

  3. Check your inbox for the "email verification" receipt from the Learning Center. You MUST verify your email before you are able to proceed.

Step 2: Complete Training and Certification (U.S. Soccer Learning Center)

  1. Go to the Learning Center: U.S. Soccer Learning Center

  2. Hover over "Courses" across the top of the page, then select "My Courses". You should have the appropriate SafeSport course listed as well as the learning center’s ‘Intro to Safety’.

Please note: the appropriate SafeSport course will only be listed there if more than 10 months have passed since your last renewal. You will not need to renew SafeSport at this time if you completed SafeSport training in the late summer or fall.

  3. Select either course to get started.

  4. Select ‘Assignments’ on the top left side of the page to open the course electronically.

  5. You must complete both courses. You do not need to download your certificates.

Should you have any issues with your member account in the US Soccer Learning Center, you must contact them directly as LVR/SYSA staff does not have access to your member profile.

Step 3: Register as a Volunteer (LVR Soccer Registration)

  1. Log in to LVR Soccer: LVR Soccer Club > Home (lvr-soccer.org)

  2. Select Register Team Staff / Volunteer and complete the following sections.

Step 4: Submit your Background Check (Washington Youth Soccer Registration)

  1.  After completing your online courses through US Soccer Learning Center and registering as a coach/volunteer with LVR, you can submit your background check through Affinity Online Registration.   Make sure to use the same Affinity account that you used in past years.

  2. Be sure to select season the correct year and season, and list Seattle Youth Soccer Association as your organization.
